Sometimes it is easier to see the “Son” through the fog

Have you ever looked at the sun through the fog and can actually see the shape of it. When most times the brightness of the sun would blind us as we look at it in a clear day, the shape of the sun is revealed clearly on a foggy day. This morning I begin to realize how the foggy times in our lives cause us to look to the Son, And we see him more clearly than we do on the good days.

2 Corinthians 3:16-18 But whenever anyone turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.

The word of God never comes alive more than when there is fog in your life. It is like every verse you have read your whole life has new meaning and jumps off of the page. Those moments where a verse seems highlighted in the Bible is not a coincidence, that is the Holy Spirit speaking to you. Many people think they do not hear the voice of God, but I can guarantee you, if you are one who finds yourself drawn to certain verses in the Bible, you hear God’s voice more than you think.

Instead of burring your head in the sand in hard times, Look up to receive the love of the Father like you have never known before. He will never leave you or forsake you.

Hebrews 13:5-6 God has said,‘ Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.’ So we say with confidence,‘The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid.What can mere mortals do to me?’

Angels encamp around us! Thank God for protection

On Sunday my husband was heading out with my 11 year old son and some friends to go kayaking. Allowing him to do that has been a step of faith, especially as he wants to push his limits every time. Sunday was his birthday weekend, 60* degrees in January to boot, excellent time to go for a short trip.
On the way down our street a paddle flew out the back of the truck bed, he turned quickly to see what happened, then THIS Happened

The verse, “the angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear him”, came to mind as he told me there was an accident. The three in the truck had to climb out the window, but praise God all the windows were still in tack. They went to the shop and drove the forklift down the road to pull the truck out. Everyone was fine, but the truck needs some major work.

In those moments there are so many emotions that go through your head. For me it was the fact that all along our road is a steep cliff. There are only a couple places where there is solid ground on the left. They hit the last ditch possible without the cliff. God protected me husband, son and friend. The thought came to mind, what if God was actually protecting them from something worse that could have happened on the River that day. We never want an accident to happen. But, that day, I was thanking God nothing worse happened. Not a scratch on their body.

I am one thankful wife and mother. As I was praying today for a family who has to give testimony in a criminal case, I had to find pictures to declare over them. These were my favorite ones.

In this last picture below that most all of us have seen, you will notice the missing plank on the bridge. See, God could have filled in the hole, but he didn’t. He said “I will give my angels charge over you to protect you in all your ways”. We will still have scary situations in our lives, but God will send help for you always.

Praying that God gives you peace and rest as you walk through this life with him. Blessings to you!!

Freedom for your children: Breaking thoughts of agreement

This morning I had to walk my son through some steps of freedom. Even though he is trying his hardest in school and is getting the work done, it is so intense he feels like he is drowning. For a kids with learning challenges, growing up means everything gets harder. He began agreeing with the lies of the enemy and last night and this morning came into my room because of disturbing dreams. He had a dream that there was a scary lion outside our house looking at him and it came onto our porch. This morning we had a long talk and prayer time. I read with him in

1 Pet 5:8 “Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour.”

I told him that when life is hard the enemy puts thoughts in our minds like we are a failure, life & school is torture, I want to give up, and when we agree with those thoughts and speak them out loud or draw them on our homework, are are coming into agreement with him and allowing him to take a cubby in our mind. We then prayed together and I had him repeat a prayer of asking forgiveness for agreeing with the specific thoughts he was having, Then asking and receiving the Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Gentleness, Faithfulness & Self-Control (Fruits of the spirit) Of God. His mood completely shifted after we prayed.

When the kids get home we are going to go through Psalms 19 and talk about our thoughts. Parents, take advantage of every opportunity to show your kids the freedom that is found in the word of God and what it means to walk through life in that freedom. Even children can come into agreement with the lies of the enemy. We need to recognize when that happens and walk them through a prayer time of freedom. The dream that my son had, I thank God for!! Even though it scared him, it allowed this beautiful opportunity to share the truth of the word of God. I am so grateful!

The law of the Lord is perfect,

The statutes of the Lord are trustworthy,

The Mind of Christ: thinking about “Thinking”

I have been doing a lot of thinking about “thinking”. Our thoughts have a massive amount of influence on our day. No matter what the situation that may arise-our thoughts will determine our emotions and actions. We need to understand what it means to “Have the Mind of Christ” BUT, what is the mind of Christ? Check out the picture below Phil 4:8

We also need to know how to “Take Every thought captive and make it obedient to Christ”.
But what does that mean?
It means 1st of all Repentance– for wrong thinking, for specific things we are focusing on that are not in Phil 4:8, for thoughts that contradict the nature of God and His commandments. When we constantly live with those thoughts and never repent for them, we allow the strongholds that attach themselves to those thoughts to have Legal Access to our spirit. I don’t know about you, but I do not want the enemy to have any legal access to my mind, heart or spirit. We have the authority to stop the enemies access, through our repentance with humility and sincerity.

After repenting for wrong thinking, you need to fill your mind with the good things of God. Philipians 4:8

The next step is constantly living with an attitude of thanksgiving for what God has done for us. This takes our eyes off of ourselves and present circumstances and shifts our attention to him. As we glorify and worship him He releases us from the burdens that we carry in our every day life. This is a true way to walk in joy, freedom and hope.

2 Corinthians 10:3-6 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled.

How to Receive Freedom by Giving Up

Sometimes we hold on to a stronghold or sin in our life and justify it by saying that it is for someone else’s good. For example, if we hold envy/hatred/jealousy towards someone because, in our mind, they are hurting someone we love. That stronghold then takes root in our life and opens wide the door of our spirit to the enemy and we come into agreement and can then release Anger/Hatred/Strife ect. into other areas of our life or our family.

Parents you have a direct influence over your kids and the atmosphere of your home. If we are not walking in purity and freedom it opens our homes up to strife/anger ect. You are the head of your household. The buck stops here!! We can easily get on our kids case for their attitudes, but sometimes we need to check ours out FIRST. (preaching to myself!!!)

Time to seriously take ourselves before God and repent and renounce the strongholds/sins and receive his forgiveness, righteousness, peace and love. Freedom is possible only after we are willing to humble ourselves before Him, admit our sin, Believe He has the power and authority to forgive us because of the cross and Receive His forgiveness and freedom!

The steps to your freedom require two important things. First of all, you need to repent and ask God’s forgiveness for the strongholds you have allowed to come into your life and the sins that you have committed. Along with that comes the need to renounce, or break off all ties to those strongholds . That is simply stating each of them and declaring that you renounce and break off ties and attachments to those things.
This is just the first step, getting things right between you and God.

However, it does not end there.

If those sins have been towards someone else, even if it is only in your mind or by actions or words then you need to go to them and ask forgiveness for it. This might be a no-brainer, but it is far too easy to skip this step because of the vulnerability you feel towards that person. You may fear they will not receive you, or that they will throw it in your face. But, what is taking place in your spirit is far more important than the resistance you may feel. Bitterness, envy, jealousy, hatred, are all easy strongholds we allow into our life. They sneak up on us especially when we do not realize we are willingly coming into agreement with the sin we are carrying. When we justify our sin, or make excuses for it because we think there is a good reason, we are at the same time holding the power of its influence around us.

Today I can testify that I have just completed the second step above in regards to a situation that I have been going through.
Last night I repented and renounced what I was going through to God, but it does not end there. I had been holding resentment, envy, jealousy and anger towards someone and had to find them today and ask forgiveness face-to-face.

I can’t tell you the joy and especially peace that I have felt all afternoon. My humility, obedience and open heart paved the way for complete restoration between me and the other party and took away the strife and contention in my heart. Now I am waiting to see this peace continue even after my kids get home from school. This is a house where the Prince of Peace reigns!

Bring on the freedom and joy!

Shake it off – Receive Your Freedom!

Something crazy awesome happened at Destiny Christian Fellowship today. The presence of God was so intense but in the physical you wouldn’t have been able to tell. There is something powerful that takes place when God’s people corporately shake off the burdens that they are not supposed to be carrying depression, weariness, fear and allow God to set them free!! It takes the act of doing something about it, not just sitting back and allowing ourselves to stay in the rut that we may be in.

This morning as I was exhorting the church, God had me ask them corporately to shake off what was consuming them and then shout the shout of victory and declare over their lives what they want freedom of. I’ll tell you what, that church was NOT the same group of people in the last worship song that they were for the beginning of worship. Heather gave a powerful word of when you are in a difficult season to put one foot in front of the other and not give up. Pressing on toward the prize.

Vicki, then shared the confirmation of the word and prophetic act I asked the church to do. It was exactly what Heather and the team were talking about back in Pre-Service prayer. What they were releasing and declaring before the service even started actually physically happened!! That is what happens when you attend a church that allows the Holy Spirit to have freedom to move and release the congregation to use the giftings God has given them. Those gifts did not end with the disciples! Hallelujah!

Then Doris nailed it when she said after communion that we are not taking a big enough bite. That we are satisfied with a trickle when God has a flood for us. Whoa!! That word totally confirmed what God had just told me during our examination time during communion, which by the way Josh Hjertstedt, was one of the most powerful communion services I can remember. The service was then finished by Pastor Ken Callahan’s incredible word that tied together every word shared and encouraged us how to walk in freedom.
Job 14:7-9 ‘At least there is hope for a tree:if it is cut down, it will sprout again,and its new shoots will not fail. Its roots may grow old in the groundand its stump die in the soil, yet at the scent of water it will budand put forth shoots like a plant. ”

AT THE SCENT OF WATER!!! It will sprout again!! Are you desiring to know God in a deeper way? Do you want to know and feel His presence? All you need to do is SHAKE OFF literally the burdens and heaviness you feel. Ask forgiveness and Thank Him for the freedom He paid for on the cross then Receive His love, peace and freedom. One thing I said this morning, to intercessors out there who are carrying burdens that are not theirs. Don’t get God’s burdens confused with your passionate emotions. For Jesus said, “my yoke is easy and my burden is light . Take my yoke upon you and learn of me for I am meek and lowly in heart and you will find rest for your soul! RECEIVE YOUR FREEDOM TODAY!
