About Rachelle (Hjertstedt) Layzell

Thank you for visiting my blog. I’ve been praying for you! My hearts desire is that every person who reads or follows my blog will have a personal encounter with my Best Friend, Papa God, Holy Spirit and my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ (the trinity God-head 3 in1). I believe with all my heart that if you have even a tiny desire to experience God in a personal and tangible way – HE WILL REVEAL HIMSELF TO YOU!!

Since I was a small child I cried out to the Lord to show me himself like He did to Moses in Exodus 33 (see below). I would cry on my bed in Jr. High, “Give me Wisdom & Understanding. Let me Hear Your Voice”. He began to speak. I began filling up notebooks with scriptures and words He gave me. He gave me words of comfort and direction of how He wanted to use me in the future. So even as a Youth, I knew I was called to preach the gospel, be a prophetic voice to my generation and see a generation rise up and release His love, power and glory to the world.

One of my biggest passions is teaching children to senior saints that YOU CAN HEAR THE VOICE OF GOD! He talks to us all the time, we just don’t always know how to listen. Christianity like any other religion can be dead, if we only use the “Title” of “Being a Christian”, and not experience the presence of God and have a desire to actively be His hands and feet to the world. Christianity is not boring if we learn to have our eyes, ears and heart open to the Holy Spirit. We need to pursue HIM as much as HE pursues us!

I grew up as a Pastors Kid all my life (parents, Grandparents & Great Grandparents on both sides were in the ministry or missionaries). BUT, believe me just being a PK doesn’t mean instant access to heaven. Jesus came to me and revealed himself because I asked for it! So can you. My parents Joel & Robbin Hjertstedt were pastors in the Seattle Area for 4 years, District Pastors at Bible Temple now City Bible Church for 16 years (I attended Temple Christian School/City Christian there for 10 years, then went to Centennial High School as my mission field for 2), and for the last 13 years my parents have been the Senior Pastors of Destiny Christian Fellowship in Happy Valley, Oregon. I worked at City Bible Church in the Evangelism/Assimilation Department and also over their Small Connection Groups. While working for the church I attended Portland Bible College for 2.5 years till I got married. I met my husband Tim at PBC where he had come to college from Chilliwack, BC. Canada.

My husband and I were sent out along with my parents to start Destiny, we had our first prayer meeting for the church on September 11th, 2001. Talk about a major reason to come together and pray. Needless to say, it was quite a powerful first church meeting. We became the Jr.High/High School Pastors which we did for 5 years. Then we transitioned to Young Adult Pastors which we did for 4 years. The last 4 years we have been the Family Life Pastors, connecting families together in relationship with each other and we have a deep desire to see strong family units who love God and are sold out to him. Once a month and sometimes more, I have the privilege of being a head teacher in our Destiny Kids Elementary Class. I work with an incredible team of teachers and leaders. Rose Preston, who is the head over our Children’s ministry has known me since I was in elementary myself. She is a woman I want to glean from and try to me more like. I promise you many blogs about the miracles and supernatural experience our kids are having in that class. They are absolutely mind-blowing!!

Married Tim Layzell on May 27th, 2000. My son Isaac was born in 2003, My son David was born in 2004 and our little princess Elicia Grace was born in 2007. These 3 kids are my passion. I have a burning desire to see them experience God like I have my whole life. God has spoken so many words to me about them. I know we will be traveling as a family around the world, sharing the amazing miracles God has done.

My husband and I own a specialty wood business in Oregon City. We buy large trees, mill them on our property, dry them and either sell them as wood or make them into custom furniture. Working with my husband in our company, while he has another full time job as a project manager at an excavation company is nothing short of a miracle. I get to do the customer service, marketing and sales. Lots to balance in this live, that is where God’s grace comes in. There are so many testimonies of the provision and direction of God on this business because this business belongs to HIM. It is because of Him we are doing it and He is in charge. Many blogs will be posted of our testimonies. Heaven in business, is essential. We don’t make a single decision without being lead by Him. What an honor to have God as your boss!

Some changes to the above status are in process. I will update later after I can post about it publically. Thank you for your prayers at this time. (2/23)

Well, that’s just a little peek into who I am. I post my heart and my passion for Life, Marriage, Raising Children, God and all things related to Him. He is my best friend, my everything.

Exodus 33:12-23 “Moses and the Glory of the Lord”

12 Moses said to the Lord, “You have been telling me, ‘Lead these people,’ but you have not let me know whom you will send with me. You have said, ‘I know you by name and you have found favor with me.’ 13 If you are pleased with me, teach me your ways so I may know you and continue to find favor with you. Remember that this nation is your people.” 14 The Lord replied, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.” 15 Then Moses said to him, “If your Presence does not go with us, do not send us up from here. 16 How will anyone know that you are pleased with me and with your people unless you go with us? What else will distinguish me and your people from all the other people on the face of the earth?”
17 And the Lord said to Moses, “I will do the very thing you have asked, because I am pleased with you and I know you by name.” 18 Then Moses said, “Now show me your glory.”
19 And the Lord said, “I will cause all my goodness to pass in front of you, and I will proclaim my name, the Lord, in your presence. I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion. 20 But,” he said, “you cannot see my face, for no one may see me and live.”
21 Then the Lord said, “There is a place near me where you may stand on a rock. 22 When my glory passes by, I will put you in a cleft in the rock and cover you with my hand until I have passed by. 23 Then I will remove my hand and you will see my back; but my face must not be seen.”

This is so cool Rachelle! So happy you get to pour out your heart in this blog. I am reminded of a favorite worship chorus that Brian Johnson sings “Show Me Your Face Lord” that speaks in one of the verses about Moses wanting to see the Lord. So huge that we get to have Presence, power, and family (the church, His body) !!!!!!!
