3 Steps to begin walking out your destiny

I saw this on the wall last night at a church. It made me catch my breath….. “There are many things in life that will catch your eye, but only a few that will catch your heart…. Pursue those.”

This morning, the verse kept going through my mind in Jeremiah 1:12 ,” The LORD said to me, “You have seen well, for I am [actively] watching over My word to fulfill (perform) it.”

I can’t wait to begin pursuing the things God has placed on my heart. In the 1st chapter of Jeremiah he sees a twig of an almond branch. The almond tree is the first tree to bud around January. God is excited to watch over the words He has spoken to us and can’t wait to see us bud and produce the fruit that He had placed inside of us before we were even born. He knew us before we were in our mothers womb. We were hidden in Christ. He placed a destiny, giftings, and a specific mantel on us that only we will carry.

You are a gift to this world that God is waiting expectantly to see released. Where does it start?

It starts by Full Submission to Him. What does full submission look like?
1) Obedience to His word, read, study, memorize the Bible get it into your heart. Allow it to transform you to where it flows out of you like a river of water. Apply it to your life where you obey what it says. Keep away from evil, sin and anything that does not honor God. Ask God to give you a desire to live a pure and holy life unto Him. Romans 12:1 says, “present your body as a living sacrifice to God, holy and acceptable which is your reasonable service.

3 Steps to begin walking out your destiny

I have heard some Christians say, you can’t be holy, Jesus was God so he couldn’t sin. At times this is said to justify their own sin and make an excuse as to why they couldn’t stop themselves. But I tell you, Jesus was 100% God and 100% man. He had a choice whether or not he would sin. Otherwise, what was the purpose of Jesus being tempted by the devil in the wilderness? He had just finished fasting 40 days, he was weak and tired and the enemy tried to catch him at his lowest point to tempt him in all the things he needs or would he facing at the cross. Jesus refused and said, man shall not live on bread alone but every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.

Jesus was tempted in all things Yet He did it sin. We are to be Holy as he is holy. 1 Peter 1:14-16 “As obedient children, do not conform to the passions of your former ignorance. 15But just as He who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do, 16for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy” It’s not just an Old Testiment statement!

BUT WHERE DOES Holiness START?

1) It starts with a Desire to please the Lord and live for him. We can ask him for that desire and he will give it to us. We can ask for strength to avoid giving into sin. In 1 Corinthians 10:13 Amplified it says,
No temptation [regardless of its source] has overtaken or enticed you that is not common to human experience [nor is any temptation unusual or beyond human resistance]; but God is faithful [to His word—He is compassionate and trustworthy], and He will not let you be tempted beyond your ability [to resist], but along with the temptation He [has in the past and is now and] will [always] provide the way out as well, so that you will be able to endure it [without yielding, and will overcome temptation with joy].

2) Seek His Face, not just his hand (what he can do for you). Seeking his presence by allowing ourselves to stop what we are doing and spend time with him. Stop, Wait on him and Listen to his voice. When Elijah went into the cave God didn’t speak in the wind, earthquake or fire, God spoke as a still small voice, a whisper. (1 Kings 19:13)

3) We need to be patient and cultivate that habit of waiting on Him, listening to His voice, then responding to it in Obedience. It doesnt matter if it is a verse he wants you to look up, a person he wants you to pray for, or someone you are to give something to physically or a word of encouragement. The simple act of taking His word to heart, honoring it and obeying it will open your ears even wider to hear the Lord quicker and clearer next time! When we respond to His word, it sharpens our awareness of the Holy Spirit, till it gets stronger and stronger and you doubt less and less that you can hear His voice. That is when you have the confidence to step out in boldness even when you don’t think your are ready or prepared. That’s when the anointing of God that had been poured out in the secret place of seeking His face flows out of you to others.

Here are 2 easy to understand messages about your Destiny and God’s Mantel on your life from Doug Lasit, Senior Pastor of The Pearl Church in Denver, Colorado. He is a man of God I have respected since he was my Youth pastor back in the late 90’s at City Bible Church (now Mannahouse) in Portland, Oregon. I hope these messages bring understanding to why you are alive in this place and time.

Pandemic: Never before is hearing God so important. Seek Him!

Today I was, Soo ready to finally have a chance to escape and deliver a little table to our client in Seaside, OR. Awesome drive here listening to Elevation Church live. Delivered a piece of furniture for the first time with a mask and gloves on. Not normal.

https://www.facebook.com/elevationchurch.org/videos/227573958565893/
Made me reflect on Pastor Steve Furtick’s message this morning about getting back to normal. Very thought provoking and timely. 3 months ago most of us were running around like a chicken with our heads cut off. Dreaming of vacations or things slowing down. Ha! Watch out what you pray for you might actually get it 😂

We are all experiencing a new normal. Some want to get back to the old normal. But what is the normal God has for you in the future. Is it to reexamine our priorities? Spend more time with our families? Not jam pack our schedules with so much busy stuff? Not spend as much money on entertainment or eating out? Imagine how many more opportunities you have now to pick up the phone and catch up with a distant relative or friend. Imagine all the blood pressures that are being naturally lowered and more good endorphins that are being released to bring health and healing to bodies. How many more walks have we taken, I know a lot for myself. More peace.

But joy? Ha 🤔 Joy is always a choice. Even with more time at home, there are things that get in the way of our joy. For me I have been struggling with having to cancel our long awaited and months planning for 20th anniversary trip. I’ve waited 10 years to be in the tropics again. This week I had to cancel multiple fights and a resort stay far away. I had been on a 6 month happy high and it all came crashing down. Running our own business from our home takes a massive amount of grace for our marriage, family and sanity. I needed a break.

But! That is no reason for my attitude to go down the drain, be easy agitated and frustrated. What I need to do is stop and start thanking God for his blessings and pray for all those who are being negitivy affected in this pandemic.

Seaside, Oregon

Driving to the beach today, I began to reflect on the fact that, this Earth is not our home. We are only given a handful or more decades on this planet. There is more to this life than the pleasures we so desire. There is a reason we are breathing, to get to know Father God and help others understand the gift he has given us, Eternal Life.

But living a life with the benefits of heaven doesn’t start when we die. It begins when we start seeing and living life through an eternal kingdom perspective.
What does that mean?
It means we look at each day, every season or trial with the question,
How will God reveal himself himself to me at this time?
What lesson does he want to teach me?
What blessing is he releasing?
How can I touch others with his love in this time?
What is keeping me away from spending time with Him in this time?
What is He speaking to me?
Am I waiting to hear His voice?
How can His power and majesty be shown through this?

God is wanting to show all of us something very specific right now. Each one of us are walking a different path. He doesn’t just throw our a generic word. He has something specific for you and your family. Seek him like never before. In Psalms it says, to those who seek Him, He will be found by them. Call upon him to share the secrets of His heart. He also says, he will reveal his secrets to those who fear him. The world has slowed down. If we take advantage of this once in a lifetime moment, seek His Face! WE WILL FIND HIM LIKE NEVER BEFORE! Don’t miss your chance!

His Ways Are Higher

Meditating on one of my favorite chapters this morning, Isaiah 55. What an incredible revelation and promise. Just to think that God’s plans are far higher than we can even strategize and plan out. What a privilege partner with the Creator of the Universe to release His will and purpose on the earth.

Sometimes when I am bogged down with computer work staring at the corner of my desk, my heart longs for something more. But knowing that no matter what I am doing, if I am working at it with all my heart unto the Lord, following Him daily and obeying what he has set before me to do….That is bringing his kingdom to earth.Taking every opportunity to release faith, hope, love and encouragement to others whenever I can, on the phone, by text, by email, at the store, at the gas station at church. My outlook and perspective determines my contentment, peace and joy.

Paul encouraged people from a prison cell. Think about that! HA! And we receive from God pouring through him every day we read the New Testiment. It doesn’t matter where we are in our life’s journey, we never have a reason to feel trapped and unable to use our giftings to pour out to others.

When my kids were toddlers I struggled soo much in feeling trapped and not able to minister to others. Then I realized, there is no reason I cant counsel a young adult with a baby on my lap or while my kids are taking a nap. My mentors at that time, Helene Spacek , Rose Preston and Debbie Brito told me over and over, to find joy and fulfillment in each season I was in. And that it was a Season. I almost started to think the word Season was a swear word. 😂 But God’s purpose and will was found and obeyed in that season.

Nothing is more important than waiting on God, hearing His Voice and obeying. Those are the key foundations of my life. STOP, WAIT, LISTEN & OBEY. I’m thankful that this verse says His words will Not return void but accomplish what he said they would do, Because He has Told Me a lot in the last 40 years. I’m holding Him to his word and promises. Because they are good.

For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” declares the Lord.“For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways And My thoughts higher than your thoughts.“For as the rain and snow come down from heaven, And do not return there without watering the earth, Making it bear and sprout, And providing seed to the sower and bread to the eater,So will My word be which goes out of My mouth; It will not return to Me void (useless, without result), Without accomplishing what I desire, And without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it.“For you will go out [from exile] with joy And be led forth [by the Lord Himself] with peace; The mountains and the hills will break forth into shouts of joy before you, And all the trees of the field will clap their hands. –

Why it is important to hear God’s voice for yourself

Reposted from August 2015

All of my life I have grown up in a prophetic culture where hearing a word from God from somebody else is the norm. I have gone to more conferences at a church than I can count. When you grow up constantly hearing words that God is telling someone else for your church, region, nation or world it is easy to put your own ears in the backseat.

Christians submerged in this culture have a tendancy to become lazy when it comes to activating their own ability to hear the voice of God. We tend to rely on others to give us the new “Heavy Revey“.

This is dangerous and sets you up to be malnourished in your own spiritual walk.

There are times in my life when I go through seasons of constantly listening to different pastors around the world, as well as, listening to online conferences. However, in the last couple years as I have entered in a different season of life with running our business, and I have not exposed myself to as much teaching/prophetic ministry as I have in the past. In one sense, I have missed out growing in certain areas of my spiritual walk. On the other hand, I have had to learn to tune my ears in to Gods voice and ask for discernment to understand what He is telling me and where He is guiding me.

I never want to get to the place in my life where all I am listening to are the revelations that God has given someone else. Because when that happens, I cut myself off from the life flow of the Spirit of God that He wants to pour in and through me.

Now you might say I don’t know how to hear the voice of God. He never speaks to me.

The good news is, that He does all the time we just need to learn to recognize it. This subject has been my heart’s cry since I was 12 years old. I would lay in bed at night crying out to God to hear His voice. I wanted to be like Solomon wanting wisdom and understanding. I wanted to hear his voice so clear.

When I was in Bible college I shared a word with a church in Klamath Falls entitled “Stop, Wait, and Listen.” Boy oh boy, do I wish the computer I used back then didn’t crash because I do not have my notes. The purpose of the message was to teach on how to begin to hear God’s voice.

The first thing we have to do is STOP. Many times when I’m in a church service or praying God will tell me to be quiet. When He says my name first, then tells me to be quiet it really gets my attention! Many times we talk and talk and talk and do not stop to give God a chance to speak to us. He comes to us in a still small voice. Like Elijah in the cave, God did not speak to him in the thunder or in the storm but in a still small voice.

If our voice is only thing we here, we will never hear HIS.

But next we need to WAIT. Now this is the hard part. We have to focus on HIM, our mind, heart, emotions and desires ALL FOCUSED ON HIM. There are a zillion distractions in our life and depending on your present circumstances waiting may feel like an impossibility. But this is where the majority of people who say they cannot hear Gods voice fail. They’re not willing to wait. In this waiting period, many times God begins to speak but we dismiss it on account of not realizing he is speaking.

Not everyone hears an audible voice, that would be a voice that everyone else around you can hear at the same time. Like when John the Baptist was baptizing Jesus and everyone around them heard God speak, “This is my son in whom I am well pleased.” That was an undeniable audible voice.

Some people hear a voice in their head or spirit, some may attribute it to being their conscience. But did you know, your conscience is the Holy Spirit – who is God. We think that our conscience is just “us”. We overlook the fact that God speaks to us all the time, we may not even know it and we don’t give Him the credit. So listen to that voice! He will always give you peace. He also will never contradict His written word.

Another way he speaks is through His Written Word – the Bible. You may be reading the Bible and a verse jumps out at you and you can’t get away from it. You reread it over and over and feel at the same time that a match was just lit in your heart. That is the Holy Spirit speaking through the word. Other times, you may be waiting on God and a verse goes through your mind. That is God speaking to you through his word. I would encourage you when that happens to look at that verse up and research the context of what it is saying.

Something else awesome that happens is when you receive a Bible passage in your mind to look up. You might hear the words Psalms 121. Then when you look up that passage it is exactly what you needed to hear. Sometimes I have heard passages like that and went to look them up and they meant nothing to me. But when I read down further it led me to exactly what I needed. Don’t get discouraged if that happens. Sometimes it will be right on and sometimes it will be off. I heard someone say not to take it too literally if it doesn’t work out correctly. Especially if you open up and read and “Judas went and hanged himself”. And especially if it says, “whatever you are going to do, do quickly”. Haha, be wise and have fun with it.

I have seen signs at a church recently that say “Meeting with God face-to-face, through His Word.” The first time I saw that title I got really excited because my experience of meeting God face-to-face has been with my face down in the carpet weeping while experiencing His intense presence & glory like nothing else, while seeing revelations in the spirit. But my experience is not something that you would typically find at the church I was at. It opened my eyes to the reason why we need every denomination in unity. Because every denomination has a piece of the puzzle that the other does not. The desire inside of me to experience God face-to-face in his word is growing more and more. It is definitely a paradigm shift for me to put those two phrases together, face-to-face – in his word. I long to be encountered by God through his word like I never have before.

It also important to discern when God is giving you a yellow light. A traffic light when yellow means caution. We need to make sure we know when we have a check in our spirit and God is telling us to stop or slow down.

The most important thing to do after he speaks is to LISTEN and put action to his words. Many times when he speaks it requires us to do something with what he says. If we doubt his words and never move forward with his instruction we will find ourselves stuck in a rut frustrated with life. He is always speaking, leading, guiding. If you feel stuck in a rut take some time to wait on the Lord and allow him to stir up the desires he has placed in your heart. But then ask, seek, knock and he will open doors before you that you never even dreamed possible.

I pray this blesses you and you’re able to share this with others who desire to hear Gods voice. – Rachelle Layzell

Here is a powerful song that reflects my hearts cry

I’m Listening by Chris McClarney

REST!! Or Else!

No matter what season of life I am in, I HAVE to learn to find time to find rest in Him, even if it means saving up for a massage😉. Yesterday, was one of those days. On Saturday night I wanted to hop on a plane somewhere tropical and leave all the stress behind. Not possible. Next best thing was a husband who let me have the evening to spoil myself. He relaxes by whitewater kayaking, I relax by getting a massage. (To each his own, right?).
I did not go into my massage with the expectations of having a God encounter. I just wanted to relax. But something incredible happened as I begin to relax in the natural my spirit begin to commune with God in a very easy way.

There is nothing as tranquil as entering into the place of REST with our beloved Savior. It is only in Him we find pure saturating peace. In REST His voice is clear and His purpose is revealed.

I was thanking him for all he’s done and he began to show me things about the masseuse and I began to sincerely pray for her. I didn’t think of where my prayers would lead because I was almost asleep in a relaxed state. After the massage was over I told her how thankful I was that God lead me to that place. She excitedly replied, “Oh, I Love God!!” Haha! Open door right there. I began to share with her what God showed me about her how much she loves her and he knows all the pain she has been through in the last three years with her family members. I told her that God has you right where she is supposed to be and told her I was praying that the windows of heaven would open up over her shower down more blessing that she could receive. She began to weep in the hallway and hugged me so tightly. God encountered both of us!
To tell you the truth walking into that place I had absolutely nothing in me to give. Or so I thought. But all it takes is having our mind focused on our Savior who is right there to meet us at the point of our need. He filled me as I “allowed” myself to rest. That is a good point right there, I ALLOWED myself to REST! (However, there is a difference between, rest and having fun, and intentionally spending time with God as we rest) Sometimes I think we have a high and mighty perception of serving God and others that we have to burn ourselves out in order to get everything done. But whenever I try to do that I am left absolutely wasted and I want to quit, I think that is called burnout. I never want to burn out I want to be consumed with the Holy Ghost fire of God and I want to see that fire burst out and touch my community and the nations. I need to allow myself time to rest, for my physical body sake, my family sake, my church’s sake and my sphere of influence.
The yoke that we are supposed to carry with God is not heavy unless we mistake being yoked to God to being yoked to our circumstances. He said My yoke is easy and my burden is light. Take my yoke upon you and learn of me for I am meek and lowly in heart you will find rest unto your soul. Walking side-by-side with God not trying to run out in front of him. Find REST, my soul, in God alone. He is my hope! God teach us to rest in you, to minister to others out of a place of rest. Consume us and release us to spread your fire!!

There is nothing as tranquil as entering into the place of REST with our beloved Savior. It is only in Him we find pure saturating peace. In REST His voice is clear and His purpose is revealed.

I found this amazing song by Kari Jobe this morning that goes along with what I shared above. I hope it blesses you!

What ways have you found to allow yourself to rest in God? What happened as a result?

God Said it- I Believe it – That Settles It

My life is held together by God’s promises. There have been so many times in my life where God has spoken so clearly. In those times, I have to make sure I listen because I know I will have a decision to make. I can either take the word or promise He gives me and throw it over my shoulder, or I can stand on His word and believe it with all my heart. So often when I am faced with challenges, I revert back to His words and hold them up to God with Isaiah 55:10-11 in my mind and say, ” God YOU SAID….”. As I do this, a sense of determination comes over me to hold on to His word and promises like it is oxygen.

What do you think God’s response is?? I believe it is pride in His daughter standing on His word and realizing she is going to make it. He showers down strength, love, hope and peace. I am then energized and refocused on the solution and the answer to what I am crying out for. When we stand in a place of prayer declaring what God is already in the process of doing, we are pulling our future into our present. We don’t have to see the tangible answer in front of us, we need to see the promise God has made and hold Him to HIS word that what He has said He will do. As we align our hope to our faith it propels us into our destiny faster than if we just sit and wait for it to happen.

My husband spoke to the Fathers on Father’s Day last year at Destiny Christian Fellowship. It was a powerful word talking about us having to give God something for Him to work with. Here is the link to his message: We are made in His Awesome Image.
https://pogoplug.com/s/n4mxBv6wRjA/

I know without a doubt that my husband and I would not be in the place we are in, especially with a growing and thriving business if we did not take a hold of God’s promises and declare them in the hard times. We give Him all the glory for the things He has done, what He is doing and what He will do!!

Allow Him to Love You

In the insanity of life, at times all it takes is to quiet ourselves down for a couple minutes and allow Papa God to love on us. To be honest, it takes effort when your mind is filled with everything you need to do. But it transformed me this afternoon. I started listening to The Fish Christian Radio and every song that came on was a worship song that melted my heart.

The picture below was drawn for me a couple years ago from a lady at church. She drew it as I was exhorting the church about the flood of Love that God wants to release upon them. It just takes them to let go of the hurts and pain that they are clinging to and allow God to love them. The artist gave it to me and said she saw this picture as I was sharing. She said that just as I was encouraging the church, that God was cherishing me.

This picture has become one of my prize possessions. Allow Papa God to love on you today. Take a few minutes to focus on Him, listen to some worship music and feel your spirit come alive again. He is already waiting to hug you and love on you. He is already speaking to you. Stop. Wait. Listen. He will never let you down!!

Sometimes it is easier to see the “Son” through the fog

Have you ever looked at the sun through the fog and can actually see the shape of it. When most times the brightness of the sun would blind us as we look at it in a clear day, the shape of the sun is revealed clearly on a foggy day. This morning I begin to realize how the foggy times in our lives cause us to look to the Son, And we see him more clearly than we do on the good days.

2 Corinthians 3:16-18 But whenever anyone turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.

IMG_3602

The word of God never comes alive more than when there is fog in your life. It is like every verse you have read your whole life has new meaning and jumps off of the page. Those moments where a verse seems highlighted in the Bible is not a coincidence, that is the Holy Spirit speaking to you. Many people think they do not hear the voice of God, but I can guarantee you, if you are one who finds yourself drawn to certain verses in the Bible, you hear God’s voice more than you think.

Instead of burring your head in the sand in hard times, Look up to receive the love of the Father like you have never known before. He will never leave you or forsake you.

Hebrews 13:5-6 God has said,‘ Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.’ So we say with confidence,‘The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?’
